I saw a very interesting question on Nice’ Mommastuff blog so I decided to join in.
The question is
Do you have routines for your kids? Care to share? Does it really help?
Answer :
- Meal time. No tv and meal should be eaten on the dining table. It seems this helps because every meal time she would automatically go to the dining table and seat on the dining chair.
- Playtime. We really do not go outside of the house to play. Whole day we would be at home playing. I know its a little bit boring so it would be a joy if her cousin would come to visit. TV time is whole day. But it is turn off during meal time and of course sleeping time. We only watch one tv station — PLAYHOUSE DISNEY. Does it help ? Well, Anevay is two months short from her 2nd birthday and she can now count up to 15. She can sing all the songs from playhouse disney. And knows how to sing the ABC song.
- MANNERS. As much as I can I always used thank you, sorry, please and excuse me. Because I believe in practicing what you preach. This day, anevay would say thank you whenever you give her something. Or sometimes when she hands you something. She say sorry when she is hurt or she think she hurts you. I am still working on the please and excuse me. She is also now starting to say opo. Just today, I asked Anevay “nagkalat ka na naman dito sa kwarto?”. She loudly answered OPO! lol! this gave me and hubby a good laugh.
- Praying. Every night I always utter a prayer loudly before anevay go to sleep. It just a simple prayer that I say every night. Now, when we go to sleep Anevay would be the one to say that prayer.
- Sleeping time. Anevay takes a nap in the afternoon around 12 to one, after having lunch and taking a bath. And then night time, lights off by 8 pm. I establish this when she was think 10 months. And until today. So Anevay knows that when I turn off the lights she needs to sleep already.
- Singing. I learn from Kindermusik and the parenting seminar I attended in Tumbletots that children learn faster through music. And since I love to sing everysince Anevay was born I always sing Butterfly kisses to her. Or if I am to tired to sing I would play the lea salonga’s album (one that was produced when she was ten). Now Anevay sing along with me when I sing butterfly kisses and she can sing some lines from the song Tomorrow of Lea. She also enjoys singing Id like to teach the world, Rainbow Connection, Alphabet song etc.
Anevay is at the stage wherein she mimics everything she see and hear. She is also an observant child. I am really amazed at her progress right now and i think I can attribute this to three simple things : consistency, repetition and patience. Consistency to stick to the established routine, repetition when you want them to learn something new and patience to wait for the result of your hard work as a parent.
I enjoyed answering your question Nice!

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this topic Milet. I admire you for teaching these valuable lessons to your child through routines.
I agree that routines help them to learn and grasp things so you have to repeat the same things over and over the again.
Believe ako senyo, ang aga matulog ni Anevay. Sa amin late kasi iniintay pa nya ako makauwi. hehehe
Until next week ok? I’ll be posting the next set of questions Sunday night.
