Spoon and Love - 3rd anniversary of BYDLS

Posted November 26th @ 12:59 pm by mil3tt3

Everytime I go for a check up on my rheuma’s clinic, I always end up chatting with his patient for the following reason : one, to entertain ourself as we wait for our turn, two, i’m curious if they also have lupus like me or what is the reason they are going for a check up and three what they think of my rheuma.

Over conversation, they always end up telling me that I do not look sick. Which I always answer with “I have a good rheuma but I have been through worst”.

Living with lupus is no joke. Its not an easy life but if you know what sickness is plaguing your body and you know how to deal with that illness then you can survive the battle.

LUPUS is a rare disease. Its not known to many but thanks to technology you can read millions of information about it.

On my way to acceptance and remission, I would read books and search the internet about my condition. In this searching, I end up reading the spoon theory. I was awed by the writers brilliance because she have explained clearly what i was going through at that time. My friends do not understand what i was going through until they read the Spoon Theory and yes, everything the writer wrote is what I wanted to tell the world of what I am going through.

Until now that I am in remission (after giving birth to a healthy baby girl), I would tell people the Spoon Theory.

Today, BYDLS is celebrating its 3rd year anniversary. I may not be one of those who have been there since day one but I think I am one of the first who read the Spoon Theory, i think i am in my lowest low at that time and that article gave me a kick to fight back, yeah that was 2004. Though, I only got to share it through this blog 2006.

Happy 3rd Anniversary, BYDLS and congrats Christine !
