Going HOME!

Posted November 5th @ 10:12 pm by mil3tt3

Before Marikina, Pampanga has been my home. Home, which is composed of Papa, Mommy, older brother, older sister and little me. We are five in the family. We go to mass together, do things together. Until Kuya left for Manila for work, Ate to study. I was left behind as I am still in high school. Papa retired from work and so we were three. Weekends will be seeing us complete.

Until the trials came. The trial that eventually took Papa and Mommy away. And we decided to leave the place we called home. But I promise myself to go home everytime I can. Which I was not able to fulfill due to circumstances like having lupus and getting pregnant.

It took me two years to be able to go home again. And I’m not sure why but the urge to go home is strong. Maybe because I don’t have any more reason not to go and that I wanted Anevay to experience even a part of my childhood by bringing her to our house. Actually, I wanted to go home Nov 1 but my hubby objected. I needed to compromise and I think he has a point which proves to be correct when I saw the traffic report Nov 1.

So November 2 came. I asked the rental service to fetch us around 9 am. And as usual the driver came early. Then we headed to Olive for my sister in law and the two kids. My brother already went home Nov1.

The trip went smoothly. I am not sure why but while we are already in Apalit, Anevay is throwing a tantrum already which disappeared the moment we step into KFC San Fernando. We have to wait for my older sister and her family because they will be treating us for lunch.

Lunch was in Fisherman’s Grill. And here is Anevay enjoying the seat.

I was able to feed Anevay her lunch. Which is Sinigang na Hipon but unfortunately, after eating she started throwing a tantrum. She does not want anymore to be on the high chair. So, my lunch was a fast one. This is the time I wish hubby was by my side. hay! Ang hirap maging single parent.

After lunch we headed home with Ate and his husband leading the way. And it was a wise decision on my part letting them be ahead of us. Because if not we will be LOST. Believe me, it’s a proven theory. In the past, when we go home with only me and hubby, and me giving the direction we always get lost. And when Ate have parked their car, I was already asking, why are they stopping. This is not our house. I keep on familiarizing myself with the surrounding and it took me a good five minutes and some more questions being asked when it dawned me that indeed it was HOME with some newly installed wooden fences.

Setting foot in our compound ( you see, our house is within the compound of Mommy’s relative) my Nanay Zeny, mommy’s older sister look at Anevay and said that she is a carbon copy of me! haha! And as everybody circled her, all of them commented how she looks like me when I was her age. Of course they know, because most of them took care of me when I was young.

This somehow drove me down memory lane and went a bit of reminiscing. How I wish Papa and Mommy were there to welcome us. Hay!

Anevay, being unfamiliar to the place was clingy as usual but when she saw the ducks! Oh man. She wanted to run after the ducks! And so was Aish and Buma and Luis. Since all of them have not seen a real duck! haha! poor kids.

In the end, I removed Anevay’s pants and shoes and let her walk barefoot in the muddy soil. She was really dirty.

The pictures were taken few minutes apart. I changed Anevay’s cloths because the white blouse was already dirty. But look at her.

And this one, she was tired and I let her eat her Yan Yan..

And here she is with her cousins, minus Buma who is playing around. I am not sure where.

Luis can now carry Anevay and is really being a Kuya to her. He loves to take care of Anevay.

And now, since everybody was saying that Anevay looks like me when I was her age, I asked my sister to get the photo album which contains some pictures of me. Majority of my childhood pictures were washed away on a flood when I was still leaving with my brother’s family. Luckily we found this….

haha. the exact replica talaga!

At around 4pm, we went to the Memorial garden were the remains of both Papa and Mommy were buried. I said a little prayer and introduced Anevay to them. If I am not sorrounded with families at that moment I will wept.

Here we are, the three of us, with families of our own, happily enjoying each other’s company but the three of us knows we missed something. Or not something. But someone. Close to our hearts. Part of our whole being. They are not here anymore. Yet, me know they are up there. Looking down on us. And I bet they are smiling.

After the visit, we were on our way to Marikina. Not after, my brother in law loaded the Christmas tree in the starex…hahaha! Oppss… I forgot. I was able to get the baking trays of my mother. And I am happy!

While we are on our way to San Fernando, my sister texted me if the kids are not hungry and would want to stop for snack. I told her, no. But my Kuya just cannot forget the halo halo from Razon’s. And I called my sister to tell her that the kids are not hungry but the oldies are. haha! And we ended up eating palabok and halo halo in Razons. And would you believed Anevay like it too ?

Now, after the snacks we went straight home. We were all tired. But happy.
