Pardon me, but I haven’t gotten the full details of the news I heard this morning. Not sure if the casualties is 2 or 4 but what I am sure is that there is again death among the OFWs. This time around from UAE.
They were killed because they were run over by vehicle. Again, my apologies. I do not have the exact details.
But what disturbed me is among those killed, 2 or one will not received any compensation. Or insurance from OWWA because what she/he has is only a tourist visa. Meaning he/she bypass POEA.
Such a sad story. But this is happening among our OFW. I know some who because of the urgency of work has only secured the tourist visa. And after three months that is the only time they will process their documents for their working permit.
True, it is really irritating to go through the whole POEA process. But one should endure the irritation because come to think of it, you do not know what will happen in the future.
Like these OFW killed in accident, one or two will received the 220k insurance while the other wont even received anything from the government. The 220k OWWA will be giving cannot replace the life of the person but it is something that the family can start with.
