KOMIKON 2005

KOMIKON 2005, UP BAHAY NG ALUMNI, Oct 22 (BUMA’s BDAY)This is one of the break I needed. Break from the office works and a testimony that I am getting back to my old self. Something that I could look back when my lupus is on the attack. One that I could say…I did when I was in remission.

Actually, this happens by accident. Naawa naman ako sa aking kuya if I would leave him alone sa booth ng GUHIT PINOY. So, i told my husband (who have to attend to a client call) to just leave me na lang and LUIS so that we could accompany Kuya and extend an extra hand in the exhibit.

Nakakapagod yet it was rewarding. Although I dont really know the people behind the drawings it makes me proud to be manning the GUHIT PINOY booth. Imagine I was there the whole day and minsan nde ko lam sikat pala ung kausap ko or the one who passed sa world of komiks. Well, forgive me. I am stuck in the computer world.

Well, I really dont know the exact time when people started to arrive in our booth. All I know was that those people who came, mapastudyante man o professional are in awe with the works of art that we have laid on the table. Some of them are asking pa nga if they are for sale.

This are the two art forms that people have been asking if they could buy.

There are also bigwigs who came and asked about the personalities behind the arts. Feeling ko gusto nilang ipirate (too corporate i bet!)ang mga taong gumihit ng mga larawan. I just sense it. One is form the Manga Group and other one is from the Level Up group.

I was really entertained by the comments I am hearing from those who look into the drawings. One conversation that I eaves drop is from those of the Level Up group. They were looking at the drawings one by one and the other man was looking for something. I guess un ung Maria Makiling or the Darna na naitabi na ni Kuya. The man’s word was ‘Pre, pwedeng makipagsabayan’. I told my brother about it. I told him that I think that this two guys are looking for prospect artists for there level up characters. And I was right. One of the two guys approach my brother and asked for contact numbers. Well, well, well.

Who would not be? Those which we laid out during the KOMIKON were truly a work of art. And what added to the spice what that the makers where not present, and the guhit pinoy saudi arabia logo draws curiosity to the crowd. As in, wala sila sa ‘PINAS?

At the end of the day, I can say that those who have passed by in the GUHIT PINOY booth left with a feeling of being proud to be PINOY and that the KOMIKON’s ideals of bringing back the KOMIKS era is successful.

As for me, I was tired. Exhausted. But happy. Because one, i have proven to myself that I can be of help inspite of my lupus. And second, I was able to bond with my brother and Luis (who I know misses his father a lot and is wishing that his Papa would not leave the country again). Well…let’s leave that for now.
